• All-New Sportage provides best in class entry insurance group
  • Insurance for some 2 and 4 grade vehicles increases by one group
  • Reclassification of insurance group effects four out of 18 trim options
  • Changes come into effect from 20 March 2016

Kia Motors (UK) Ltd. today announces that a small number of all-new Kia Sportage insurance groups will be changing as of 20 March 2016, after a reclassification of four out of 18 available trim options.

This change has been agreed in coordination with Thatcham Research. It has been implemented due to a mistranscription of certain pricing figures affecting a small number of components on certain models when submitting files to the insurance grouping assessors.

The effected models are found in the 2, KX-2 and 4 grades and have each seen an increase of one insurance group across the board. Specifically, the changes effect the following vehicles:

- 2 1.7 CRDi 114bhp 6-speed manual ISG
- KX-2 2.0 CRDi 134bhp 6-speed manual
- KX-2 2.0 CRDi 134bhp 6-speed auto
- 4 1.7 CRDi 114bhp manual ISG

All remaining vehicles in the Sportage range maintain their original insurance group classification, including the entry level grade at a best in class group of 11, with other vehicles in the range available at an industry beating 12.

Kia’s top of the range 4, KX-4 and First Edition models come in at insurance groups ranging from 12 to 21, better than average and below many other top spec competitors in its class.
