Kia’s highly-regarded family car has been thoroughly reworked for 2012. It offers bold styling along with the practicality, interior comfort and generous amount of equipment associated with all the manufacturer’s vehicles.
The elongated headlights and carefully sculpted exterior bodywork gives the new cee’d a more assertive look than its predecessor. The slightly longer, lower profile is not only for appearance’s sake – the modest increase in dimensions mean that passengers enjoy increased headroom and legroom over the older version.
An extensive variety of different 1.4 and 1.6 litre engines are available with the new cee’d. The car’s designers have outdone themselves in increasing the already impressive energy efficiency of the first-generation cee’d. The 1.6 litre CRDi diesel unit returns 76.3mpg and produces carbon emissions of 97 g/km, meaning that owners do not need to pay road tax under current legislation.
The all-new cee’d has five different specification levels – the cee’d “1”, “2”, “3”, “4” and “4 Tech”. Even the entry-level “1” model includes features such as Bluetooth® connectivity, Emergency Stop Signalling and Vehicle Stability Management. Higher-spec editions of the car boast such sophisticated comfort and safety measures as heated seats and steering wheels for cold days, a Lane Departure Warning function to avoid any loss of concentration, and a Parallel Park Assist System with front and reversing sensors to aid quicker and easier parking manoeuvres on crowded streets.
